Birchleigh North actor on screen with ‘Her Mask’

The film hit the screen with an aim to keep audiences glued with its clever plot and scary approach.

Juan-Pierre Moller (29) found his love for the performing arts at an early age.

This local actor enjoyed screen time in the new film Her Mask, which premiered on October 29.
The film hit the screen with an aim to keep audiences glued with its clever plot and scary approach.

Moller’s role is a small part, but he feels it is a step forward in this very difficult industry.
The Birchleigh North resident spoke about his acting journey.

“Since I was in Grade One, I participated in Kempton Park Eisteddfod and sang in choirs. This led to a love for the entertainment industry.

“I have always been skinny and it gave me a unique look. I was bullied a lot because of my size and the fact that I didn’t play rugby after the age of 12.

“I started boys hockey at Hoërskool Birchleigh and sang in the East Rand Youth Choir, which travelled to Europe in 2017.
“I was deputy head boy in primary and high school. I often featured in the Express during my school years.

“The bullying and disapproval during my school years did not get me down. I used it to push myself.

“I never thought I would become an actor and it was always just for fun, although I did my first TV commercial in 2007 when I was in Grade 10. I got an amazing agent who motivates me, keeps me updated with trends and trains me. I had drama as an eighth subject until matric,” said Moller.

He later completed six commercials and acted in mainly the comedy genre.

“Comedy is tough because you need the perfect timing to make people laugh. I was then cast in a miniseries, Swart Water 2 on SABC2, which promotes mental health.

“I knew acting won’t be a stable income, so I followed my other passion, which is to help people. I studied psychology and two weeks ago I graduated with my masters degree in educational psychology and passed the HPCSA board exams – eight years of studying done and dusted.

“On set I love to meet other actors. I am a huge fan of science, so watching them set up the special effects excites me.

“I’ve learnt to never give up. Be kind to everyone and just have fun and always do your best and forget about the opinions of all the rest,” said Moller.
