Shot Put and Discus Competition Invites Athletes

CGA stated athletes must only enter the discus event if they have adequate competition area available.

Situated in Germiston, hosts Central Gauteng Athletic (CGA) Track and Field Commission released a statement, inviting athletes to enter the free competition.

Powered by Pierre Blignaut Shot Put & Discus Academy, athletes must record a video of their six throws and measurement thereof on their smartphone and thereafter send in the video of their best attempt, as well as the distances of all six throws.

Athletes will compete in a virtual shot put and discus competition from the comfort and safety of their back yards.

They will be participating in such a manner to maintain their social distancing due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to CGA’s released statement, entries opened on July 9 and will close on July 30.

Age categories which can participate are u-12, u-14, u-16, u-18, u-20, seniors, masters and para-athletes.

Athletes can participate in two events, shot put and discus.

CGA stated athletes must only enter the discus event if they have adequate competition area available.

A virtual meeting will be held from July 31 to August 2.

Results will be administered by Versus Atletiek after verification by the organisers.

Final results will be available on CGA’s social media platforms and website on or before August 4.
