He said the departments of health and education were informed and they sent a delegation to the school on Thursday to do a risk analysis.

What counted in the school’s favour, was that the learner who tested positive did not attend school the past week.

“We were able to provide a list of names to the department of learners who had been in direct proximity of this learner in the eight classes they shared. We also made a list of names of learners who had been in contact with this learner during breaks and before and after school.”

Classes used were deep-cleaned to ensure the school would be ready for the learners’ safe return on Monday. Learners in close contact with the positive learner will stay also at home for 14 days as an extra precaution.

“I appeal to all those affected to keep us updated and informed so that we may manage this issue together,” said Morris.

He assured parents the school was working closely with the department of health and would adhere to each and every instruction given by them.

If anything changes, Morris said he would inform everyone before Monday.

“I will take as long as it is necessary to make this school safe before I’ll allow anyone to return and continue with schooling. You are all in my prayers and I sincerely hope that all of you are well.”
