Principal: 'It is important for me that each learner and staff member feels safe at the school'

Hoërskool Kempton Park has been closed on Thursday after one of its ground staff tested positive for Covid-19.

The school will reopen for matric learners on Monday.

According to a letter sent to parents by principal Francois de Kock on Thursday morning, the staff member was last at school on Wednesday and was in contact with some staff members.

“I therefore decided to close the school for two days so it can be deep-sanitised again,“ said De Kock.

In the same letter, he said all Grade 11 learners should, for the time being, be at the school on June 30 at 8am for an information session about Covid-19 protocols at the school.

“It is important for me that each learner and staff member feels safe at the school. I ask you to be calm regarding the school programme and academic work. Teachers are in control and will do the necessary to ensure learners are up to date with their work,” said De Kock.
