Norkem Park man murdered in the early hours of Sunday morning

The victim died on his way to hospital after being shot twice on the upper body.

Cases of murder and house robbery are under investigation after a man was shot dead at his rented home in Norkem Park in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The man was found with two bullet wounds on the upper body, and according to Sgt Johanna Madiga, spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS, items were also taken from his room.

“It is alleged the victim was in his rented room at a house on Tortelduif Street when he was shot. At this stage, it is unclear what exactly happened and how many suspects were involved,” said Madiga.

“A neighbour told the police they heard a commotion and the screams of the victim, who was shouting for help. The victim was found lying on the ground and bleeding next to the gate.”

Police and paramedics were summoned to the scene and the victim died in the ambulance on the way to hospital.

The deceased’s room was ransacked and items taken included a television and personal documents.
