Beware when a slave becomes king

Let us think about the future King’s mentality before we vote

HB of Edleen writes:

The late Dr Myles Monroe spoke in a television interview some years ago about the abuse of power by corrupt leaders in Africa.

He insisted that nothing is worse than allowing a poor person to enter a place of power, because such a person will only use that power to enrich themselves and their families.

We know that true leaders use their power to serve the people who have put them in power. It is not about how many people are serving you. It is about how many people you serve and how many people you empower.

Monroe went on to say that corruption is the result of a poor, poverty mentality, like that of a slave. Even King Solomon of the Bible warned, “Woo to the land (country) when a slave becomes King”.

When this happens, the country will be destroyed because it’s leader thinks like a slave. Slaves will accumulate for themselves to make sure that they will forever have more than enough, in the process forgetting about the needs of the people around him.

Is this part of what we see in South Africa right now? Have we forgotten that Jacob Zuma could not even pay his own legal fees when he was sacked as deputy president in 2005?

As a poor man, the majority of voters allowed him to enter a place of power. This time, we must stop him through the power of our vote in 2019. Let us think about the future King’s mentality before we vote.

Fighting this will probably not work either because it is silly to fight with a pig. You’ll both get dirty, but only the pig will enjoy it.
