Emperors Palace celebrates Portuguese culture

The official crowning of Miss Portugal South Africa 2017 will take place the next day

EMPERORS Palace will celebrate Portuguese culture in February with Fado singing sensation Nathalie and the crowning of Miss Portugal South Africa 2017.

Dubbed the fresh face of Fado, Nathalie will perform with the renowned Soweto String Quartet in the Theatre of Marcellus on February 24 at 8pm. Regarded the soul music of Portugal, Fado is arguably the oldest urban folk music in the world and in 2011 it was recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage.

Nathalie shot to fame after the success of her award-winning debut album in 2007. Her massive popularity saw her travelling around the globe to perform at world music festivals, where she introduced Fado to diverse audiences.

The official crowning of Miss Portugal South Africa 2017 will take place at the Theatre of Marcellus on February 25 at 8pm. What promises to be a spectacular production celebrating women, culture and Portuguese values, the pageant will feature talented artists and dazzling gowns.

The pageant winner will travel to Lisbon to represent the South African Portuguese community at the international pageant in July.

Tickets to Nathalie’s must-see Fado show start from R550 a person and tickets to the glittering pageant from R350 a person.
