Manhart makes VW Golf 8 GTI even more potent; gets 216kW under the lid

Dubbed Manhart Golf GTI 290, the beefed-up model spawns an in-house diffuser as well as some red detailing on the front and rear bumpers.

The Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI is one handsome vehicle and while we are still waiting for its local launch, the folks at Manhart have given it some bodybuilding supplements to make it more powerful.

Dubbed Manhart Golf GTI 290, the beefed-up model spawns an in-house diffuser as well as some red detailing on the front and rear bumpers.

It sits 40 mm lower than the standard Golf 8 GTI, thanks to the use of H&R springs. It rides on the tuner’s multi-spoke rims in Venturi style shod with 225/35ZR19 tyres.

To round off the interior, an exclusive starry sky with countless small LEDs was installed as a headliner.

Power has been upped from the standard model’s 180 kW and 370 Nm to 216 kW and 425 Nm respectively. This was made possible by installing an in-house MHtronik module.

The 2.0-litre TSI engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that drives the front wheels.
