Three behind bars including 71-year-old granny

At least three suspects were nabbed during an EMPD drug busting operation on May 9.

A 71-year-old Eden Park granny is among three who were nabbed during an anti-drug crime bust operation on May 9.

Members of the EMPD drug unit successfully apprehended the three suspects and confiscated narcotics worth more than R15 000.

According to Kobeli Mokheseng, the EMPD acting spokesperson, this comes after the patrolling officers stopped and searched a man along with the granny.

“They discovered 18 zip locks and one medium plastic containing 53.3 grams of khat valued at R12 600. On their way to process the two suspects, the officers noticed a nervous man nearby the scene of the crime,” he said.

Mokheseng said the third suspect was frisked and found with five Mandrax tablets, 12 zip locks of khat valued at R2 500 and R120 cash.
