Collect your unapproved building plans

Building without following the approved building plan may lead to the concerned structure or building being demolished at the cost of the owner.

The City of Ekurhuleni is calling on all those who submitted the building plans that were not approved between 2014 and 2019 to come and collect them before the end of May.

These plans were submitted and were not approved.

These building plans have been kept in the City Planning offices for years without any follow-up from the owners.
According to the law, if the property owner wants to build or extend a house, an architect or a drafter must be appointed to design a proposed building plan.

This plan is submitted to the City’s planning department for approval.

In some instances, the owner is advised to make some alterations to the plan before it is approved.

Building without following the approved building plan may lead to the concerned structure or building being demolished at the cost of the owner.

Residents are urged to contact their nearest customer care centre to do a follow-up on their submitted building plans.

They can also contact their regional managers at their nearest centres.
