Ford South Africa is expanding its Everest SUV offering with the introduction of the new Sport derivative that features a host of enhancements inside and outside.Â
Based on the Ford Everest XLT, the new Sport model is available in 4×2 and 4×4 variants and both are fitted with an electronic locking rear differential as standard.Â
On the outside, the new Ford Everest Sport comes fitted with a black mesh grille, unique Everest badge on the bonnet, black mirror caps and door handles that replace the chrome finishes on the XLT model.Â
The front bumper chin gets a black treatment as well as the rear valance. The roof rails, special Sport decals on the rear doors and striking 20-inch black alloy wheels all get the black treatment.Â
It comes in six body colours; Diffused Silver, Frozen White, Agate Black, Moondust Silver, Sea Grey and Copper Red.
Inside, it is bolstered with model-specific embossed leather seats with distinctive blue stitching, soft-touch leather treatment for the dashboard and a driver’s seat with eight-way power adjustment.
The Everest Sport also comes standard with LED headlamps and daytime running lights, cruise control and front and rear park sensors with a rear-view camera.
There is also Ford’s pioneering SYNC®3 infotainment system that comes standard with embedded navigation and is linked to an integrated eight-inch touch-screen colour display that recognises multi-touch gestures such as swipe, slide, scroll and pinch-to-zoom.
In addition, SYNC®3 offers the benefits of smartphone integration provided through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
Both variants lurk a 2.0-litre Single Turbo diesel engine with 132 kW and 420 Nm. The engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Â
