WATCH: Guitarist releases song condemning scourge of corruption

With his latest release, he wishes to get as many people as possible to get into tune against all types of corruption.

Kenny Mathaba (63) released an interactive song titled Khorapshin, translated as Corruption.

The Alberton North resident is an established composer, guitarist, and producer who has recorded and became a backing artist for a number of musicians.

He has worked with the late Hugh Masekela and other local musicians.

He recently released his catchy song, which took him seven years to prepare as he had to put in hard work to craft it.

He categorises the song as adult contemporary music.

Mathaba tackles the vocals with lyrics written in IsiZulu, articulating how people change once they occupy positions of authority.

Anti-corruption

He said the idea behind his song started around 2010 after noticing that many people had developed a perception that to get what you want, you needed influence.

“Some people often play victims of corruption, while they themselves are eagerly waiting for their chance. Once given a chance, they will then join in on the wealth and insensitive materialistic class,” said Mathaba.

He first composed and recorded the song on his cellphone in 2013 and later got into his studio, based in his home, in May 2019.

He programmed drums, keyboards and added live guitars, percussion, and other instruments to the song.

Khorapshin has been released on all digital streaming and download platforms which include iTunes Store, Google Play Music, Spotify, and Amazon Music.
