MMC Mmoko praises police for rounding up highly wanted suspects

This is the third-largest breakthrough arrest by the police in Ekurhuleni in one month.

The Joint Tactical Operation Team, including EMPD Specialised Tasked Team and SAPS Flying Squad, arrested another suspect on the most wanted list and possible gang leader on November 26.

The suspect’s arrest follows another operation that led to the rescue of two women who were suspected to be kidnapped and the discovery of a huge amount of illicit substance in Bedfordview last week.

The City of Ekurhuleni MMC for community safety, Clr Frans Mmoko, saluted the team for working around the clock to nab the suspects who are linked to attempted murder, drug dealing, kidnapping and torture among other crimes.

This is the third-largest breakthrough arrest by the police in Ekurhuleni in one month.  On November 21, another main suspect was arrested with four more suspects in Elsburg.

“This gang has been terrorising the residents of Ekurhuleni and the surrounding areas. This is one of the best ways to show the women that during and beyond the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children, the City of Ekurhuleni will fight for their safety.

“It took a thorough investigation, hard work, and working with other stakeholders for these arrests to happen. More charges are expected to be added to the charge sheet of these suspects. More arrests cannot be ruled out,” said Mmoko.

The suspects will appear in court soon.
