Stolen truck recovered in Alrode

Multiple law enforcement units banded together to conduct a successful operation to investigate and recover a stolen truck in Alrode.

On November 4 information was received regarding a suspicious-looking Mercedes-Benz Actros truck that was seen at an address in Alrode.

The investigating team investigated the info and the decision was taken to search the address to confirm the ownership of the truck.

On November 7 the address was searched and the truck was found to be linked to a case opened in Christiana.
Further searching of the premises led to the discovery of a Honda vehicle that had indications that it had been tampered with. The vehicle was found to be a match for a case opened in Norwood.

Multiple vehicle parts and harnesses were found on the scene, including a Netstar tracking unit stripped from a stolen vehicle.

Dagga cultivation was also found on the scene.

According to WO Gerhard Cornelius, spokesperson for Brackendowns SAPS, a male Malawian citizen was arrested on the scene and his cellphone was seized.

The suspect was detained at Brackendowns SAPS, along with the exhibits. A video recorder that contains footage of suspects linked to the investigation has been booked in for further investigation.

The investigation will be further conducted by the Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit.
