Gauteng titles at stake

The tournament will take place on October 30 at Turffontein Racecourse.

BRD Boxing Academy has secured the sponsorship of Heider’s to stage their Double Trouble boxing tournament.
The tournament will take place on October 30 at Turffontein Racecourse at 7pm.

Two Gauteng tittles will be at stake: one will be when Joshua Studdard goes toe to toe with Tumelo Matsane in the bantamweight division.

Studdard was involved in 11 bouts of which he lost two and has a KO rating of 63.64 per cent that makes him the obvious favourite to win. The less-experienced Matsane has gone to the ring five times, won three bouts and lost two of which one was a TKO.

Both fighters are in great condition and are positive about their chances on the evening.

“We have put in a lot of sparring rounds in the gym and I am confident that this time it is coming our way,” said Studdard.

“I would like to thank the sponsors, Heider’s and BRD, for the opportunity to fight. And also for Heider’s for the R50 000 cash prize as an incentive for the boxers. Come Saturday night, I will be out there doing my best.”
Matsane said he is ready for the fight.

“I am ready for the fight on Saturday. I want to thank Heider’s for the R50 000 they put out there to win. I am going into the ring to take the win.”

In the other Gauteng title fight, Matshidiso Mokebisi will take on Kholosa Ndabayini in the junior welterweight division.

Mokebisi from the Free State has already stepped into the ring 20 times and has to her credit 11 wins, four KOs, eight losses and one draw. On the other hand, Ndabayini from Soweto has a credible record of 13 wins and seven KOs.

Both fighters’ preparations are on target and only the evening will tell who will step out of the ring victorious.
