Be smart about it – stop hackers in their tracks

An interesting article on The Simple Dollar website by Sarah Archer recently caught my attention.

It relates to how, if we are not careful, it is possible for criminals to hack into our cars to harvest information from the computer systems.

Modern vehicles are highly computerised, with some actual offering access to WiFi and much more. Hackers can apparently access cars via these Wi-Fi networks, even if these systems have a factory set password.

They can access it through open as well as factory-set password systems. USB drives can be equipped with malicious code that can be used to access your car’s system.

Although experts often claim the cloud to be a very safe option in terms of storing data, the latter can be accessed via the smart phone that is linked to your vehicle’s system.

To limit the possibilities of your data being stolen through any of the above mentioned methodologies, the article suggests some preventative measures.
