Success at canoe championships

Sports4life paddlers took home both a bronze and silver medal from the Gauteng Canoe Marathon Championships.

The Sports4Life team celebrates the achievement of two of their canoeists who took part in the Gauteng Canoe Marathon Championships held at Germiston Lake on September 19 and 20.

On September 19 the weather was perfect and there was an awesome vibe. The singles championship took part on the day and Bert Matruj, one of the Sports4life and Johannesburg Canoe Club paddlers, won the bronze medal in the u-16 age category.

He returned on September 20 with paddling partner Apiwe Makhoba to take on the doubles u-16 championship. It was very windy, which made for challenging paddling.

Several teams had to stop to empty their canoes of water. The pair pulled through and managed to secure a well-deserved second place.

Sports4life is a level 2 BBBEE NPC and is committed to help our young people to maximise their potential through a detailed personal development programme.

If there are any businesses in the South of Johannesburg that would be prepared to partner with them financially it would be a huge help to empowering them to do what they are passionate about in investing in the lives of these young people.
