Unemployment in South Africa

The CHRONICLE asked our readers: five million people are unemployed in South African, do you think we will recover?

This is what they had to say:

Tyson Mbambo: “With this country, I don’t think we will recover. Corruption will forever be in our country. No wonder the crime rate in our country will continue increasing.”
Jason Swart: “It is difficult to say that we will recover. But I believe we will since some businesses that have opened are waiting to recover from the financial strains.”
Thulani Tshabalala: “Our government needs to fund SMME businesses for them to be able to employ people. If not our unemployment will increase. Can they just stop corruption for the sake of the country and its economy?”
Big Boy: “Our government is a joke. Some businesses are still closed due to financial strains and people are still not back at work. I don’t think we will ever recover; the unemployment rate will increase.”
Lebohang Ntile: “I think it is going to be a long-term recovery. Government should try to stop the corruption in order to create jobs.”
