Melville Koppies is open by appointment

The Melville Koppies Nature Reserve and Heritage Site is once again open for visitors. Due to the current pandemic, the usual calendar of guided tours and hikes is temporarily suspended. Instead visitors can expect only morning outings on selected days.

The Melville Koppies Nature Reserve and Heritage Site is once again open for visitors.Due to the current pandemic, the usual calendar of guided tours and hikes is temporarily suspended. Instead visitors can expect only morning outings on selected days.

On these days they can arrive from 8am and must be out by 11.30am. Open days for September are 6, 13, 20 and Thursday September 24. Visitors should note that numbers will be restricted. Booking and prepayment are essential and non-refundable unless it snows.

Visitors are asked to park opposite the entrance at Marks Park Sports Club situated on Judith Road in Emmerentia. Morning outing fees are R80 for adults and R40 for scholars. All funds are used to maintain the Koppies.

Terms and conditions for outings at Melville Koppies Central:

  • Arrive from 8am, leave by 11.30am
  • Only bookings and prepayments accepted
  • Walk at your own risk
  • Masks covering nose and mouth are compulsory and must be worn all the time
  • Stay on the paths
  • Keep a 3m social distance except for people who have travelled together
  • Children must be under the control of parents
  • No dogs, litter, smoking, alcohol, picking plants, braaing or picnicking
  • Wear sturdy shoes with a tread, a hat and bring water
  • Bring your own sanitisers
