The Maserati Levante Trofeo was launched in 2018 and the latest versions made its way to South Africa in the first quarter of 2020. Now though Maserati has announced that they will be expanding their Trofeo collection and will now see a new Quattroporte and Ghibli Trofeo added to the list.

Signifying Maserati’s all-Italian identity, the automaker has chosen to launch the collection in the colours of the Italian flag which results in the Quattroporte being green, the Levante white and the Ghibli Trofeo being red. The individual colours are combined with burnished chrome-work and glossy red trims to enhance the performance theme. Other design enhancements include the front grille which features twin vertical bars in a Black Piano finish and carbon fibre on the front air duct trims and rear diffuser. Furthermore, red details have been added to the bottom profiles of the side air vents and the Trident badge on the C-pillars sees the addition of a lightning bolt.

One of the more noticeable changes happens at the rear of the car where the light clusters have been restyled to incorporate a boomerang-like profile which was inspired by the 3200 GT and the Alfieri concept car. The Ghibli Trofeo further benefits from a restyled bonnet which now feature two air ducts for better cooling similar to that of the Levante Trofeo. The Ghibli and Quattroporte Trofeo come fitted with 21-inch aluminium Orione wheels while the Levante Trofeo retains its 21-inch Orione wheels.

Stepping to the inside the Trofeo collection features a new on-board panel that displays an exclusive interface at switch-on. Furthermore, occupants will notice three-dimensional Trofeo badges on the headrests as well as the full-grain Pieno Fiore natural leather upholstery. Occupants also benefit from a higher resolution and larger 10.1-inch infotainment screen from which the MIA (Maserati Intelligent Assistant) is commanded.

This new larger screen comes fitted to both the Ghibli Trofeo and Quattroporte Trofeo while the Levante retains the 8.4-inch display although featuring improved resolution and graphics. The systems are bolstered by the Maserati Connect programme which results in the vehicles always being connected to simplify its use and offer more services. In addition to all the above mentioned, Maserati has also upgraded the Active Driving Assist system which now can also be activated on urban roads and ordinary highways.

The new Ghibli and Quattroporte Trofeo also see the inclusion of the Integrated Vehicle Control (IVC) system as found on the Levante Trofeo. This sets up the vehicles to return enhanced driving dynamics, greater active safety and more performance. Drivers can also touch on the Corsa button which features inside the Ghibli and Quattroporte Trofeo which will result in the ideal setup for an even sportier driving style. For the spirited drivers, Maserati has included Launch Control, which provides for the most power and best performance off the line.

Under the bonnet of all three Trofeo models features a 3.8-litre V8 Twin Turbo petrol motor which is built at the Ferrari plant at Maranello to Maserati’s specifications. The motor is mated to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission and is capable of 433 kW and 730 N.m of torque. This combination propels the Ghibli Trofeo from 0-100km/h in 4.3 seconds and the Quattroporte Trofeo in 4.5 seconds and will continue until both models achieve a top speed of 326 km/h, resulting in the Trofeo duo being the fastest Maserati sedans ever.

Pricing will be revealed closer to the local introduction of the Ghibli and Quattroporte Trofeo.
