Woman allegedly assaulted by boyfriend in Delport informal settlement

The Primrose police apprehended a suspect on a charge of domestic violence.

A 35-year-old man was arrested by the Primrose police last Sunday on a charge of domestic violence.

The arrest was made in the Delport informal settlement after the suspect’s girlfriend opened a case against him.

“The victim told police the suspect had allegedly assaulted her after she asked him to slaughter, as she was busy with other household chores,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“The suspect allegedly became angry at the request and told her she had no right to ask him to do such a chore as the man of the house.

“He then reportedly grabbed a sharp object from a nearby drawer and stabbed her in the upper body.”

The victim sustained several injuries which needed medical attention.

Police traced and arrested the suspect.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
