Bolstered specification for Corolla hatch

Built on the TNGA architecture, the Corolla hatch and its new design made waves after its launch early in 2019.

Now the three variants in the model range have received higher specification levels with the flagship model including Toyota’s Safety Sense package.

The three derivatives, Xs, Xs CVT and Xr see the addition of a wireless charger for mobile devices while the Xr derivative also benefits from a pre-crash system, blind-spot monitor, lane trace assist and all-speed cruise control as part of the Toyota Safety Sense package. Upfront on the Xr model are LED headlamps which now include Auto High Beam (AHB) functionality. All models also now gain access to a wider exterior colour palette which now feature Pearl White, Satin Silver, Emotional Red and Caribbean Blue – all paired with a black roof as part of the duo-tone configuration.

Under the bonnet is still the familiar and proven 1.2-litre turbocharged engine producing 85 kW and 185 N.m of torque. Xs customers still have access to either a six-speed manual or 10-step Shiftmatic CVT transmission whereas the Xr variant, a 2020 AutoTrader Car of the Year finalist, still comes standard with the abovementioned CVT transmission.

Warranty:

The Corolla hatch comes standard with a six-services/90 000 km service plan and a three-year/100 000 km warranty. Also as standard is the Toyota Connect telematics service and complimentary once-off 15Gb of data for the in-car Wi-Fi connectivity.
