Ekurhuleni’s aspiring musicians invited to learn the ropes from established musicians

Germiston Theatre will play host to The Hook Up Dinner today (Thursday).

Many ventures into the music industry to pursue a career, while others get into it as a hobby.

Either way, all musicians want to prosper, regardless of the reason, they got into music.

As such, the metro, in partnership with The Hook Up Dinner (THUDEkurhuleni), through their monthly engagements, is providing a platform for young people in the music sector from across Ekurhuleni to pitch their craft to an audience who might crowdfund and support them.

This month’s session is titled ‘How to crack the music business’.

The session will be headlined by seasoned musicians, Senzo Mfundo Vilakazi (Kwesta) and Canada-based Kwelagobe Sekele, commonly known as Kwela.

“The City of Ekurhuleni is home to many well-known musicians, who are leading successful lives through music.

“The great acts born in Ekurhuleni such as Kwesta, DJ Shimza, DJ Euphonik, Lira and many more have perfected their art and have worked hard to crack the music business and make a living out of it.

“We, therefore, call all aspiring musicians to come to this month’s edition of THUDEkurhuleni to pitch their work, network and exchange ideas with other musicians,” said Ekurhuleni’s MMC of Community Services Clr Nomadlozi Nkosi.

The event takes place today (Thursday) at 7pm at the Germiston Theatre, situated in President Street.
