Elf on the Shelf ideas

It’s that time of year when Santa’s elf makes his way around your home, surprising the little ones.

If you have run out of ideas of what he can get up to during the night, here are some ideas.

Ideas:

  • Minion bananas. Using a permanent marker draw minion faces on bananas and let your elf chill with them.
  • Cupcakes. Even elves love cupcakes! I mean really, who doesn’t?
  • S’mores. Have your elf ready with all the ingredients to make some S’mores with the kids.
  • Pancakes. Make some pancakes for breakfast and let your elf serve them to your little ones.
  • Trapped. Trap your elf under a glass with a message with the word “help” inside it with him.
  • The fridge. Use a washcloth to wrap up your elf and stick him in your refrigerator.
  • An igloo. Make an igloo out of cotton balls and let your elf take a nap inside.
  • Toilet paper tower. Simply stack up rolls of toilet paper in the bathroom and stick the elf on the very top.
  • Lego ambush. Tie up your elf and have the kids’ Lego men kidnap him.
  • Board game. Set up a board game and have your elf (and other toys) have a go.
  • Storytime. Have other toys sitting around your elf and have him read them a book.
  • The mechanic. Place your elf under a large toy car and let him give the car a tune-up.
  • Caught. If your child has little army men, then tape your elf to the wall with the army men surrounding him.
  • A date. Does your child have a Barbie doll? Why not place them both at a “dinner table” and let them go on a date.
  • The sweetie jar. Have the kids catch him trying to sneak some sweets out of the sweetie jar/tin.
  • The selfie. Selfies are so popular so why shouldn’t your elf take one? Use your phone to look like elf has taken a selfie.
  • Dog food. Have your elf peeking outside your dogs’ biscuit box with a note reading “Do not leave these out for Santa. They taste disgusting”.
  • Snow angel. Have your elf make a “snow angel”, using sugar or flour, on your kitchen countertops.
  • Colouring in. Partially colour-in a picture, put the a crayon in the elf’s hands and let your kids admire his artwork.
  • Mischief. Buy fake moustaches and have your elf put them on your family photos. Let your little ones catch him in the act.
  • Superhero elf. Get elf to fight crime with your child’s superhero figurines.

No matter what your elf gets up to, remember to just have fun with him.
