Paying tribute to women at Emmarentia Dam

The Tribute to Women concert organised by Sheer Entertainment and Break Out was held at Emmarentia Dam on August 9.

The picnic in the park day was filled with a fun and vibrant vibe.

Even though the weather was not great, party animals still came out in numbers to watch live entertainment by their favourite musicians such as Mafikizolo, Zonke, Lady Zamar and Sho Madjozi.

One of the organisers, Pheko Kgengoe, explained that they weren’t expecting such a large number of people to attend.

“As early as noon, many people already had arrived at the venue, and the number of people arriving continued to grow, even after 4pm – which was a few hours before the event ended,” Kgengoe said.

Food and beverages were available at the venue, and many people also came with their own food and camp chair.

The sun made an appearance now and again while the wind constantly blew but did not make the party animals give up the fun.

The security was well presented, and the traffic in the parking lot was well managed by officials.

There was no injury reported except for one report of a cellphone theft which occurred after the event, outside the premises in the parking lot.

There were more than 5 000 attendees at the first instalment of this prestigious event and it is expected to grow with the next event.
