Little Mr and Miss Chris Hani Crossing Mall finals held

The Little Mr and Miss Chris Hani Crossing Mall finals were held on October 28 to celebrate the mall's seven years of existence.

Forty contestants took part in the finals of this years’ event.

During her speech to the crowd, Lebohang Matlala the mall manager said that on the same day seven years ago, the mall was first opened.

“Since we started Little Mr and Miss Chris Hani Crossing, it has become one of the most exciting annual events at the mall. Every year everyone looks forward to it. Each year we come up with different strategies to make this an even more exciting occasion than that of the previous year. Next year people must expect a ‘different tune’ as we will come up with something different to spice up the event,” said Matlala.

She added that they plan to extend the mall.

Matlala thanked all parents for allowing their children to take part in this year’s event. She also thanked the Chris Hani Crossing Mall team for their efforts in making the day a success.

Before the event began, one of the judges – Shakira Leota who is in the finals of Miss Gay RSA 2017 – said they were looking for someone with self-confidence.

“The person we are looking for must look as if h or she wants to be a model in future. We are looking for someone who was born to be a model, not someone who is here because his or her parents want him or her to model,” said Leota.

Other than seeing beautiful young models, people were treated to different dance and music items from both young and old people.

People who participated in the dance won prizes from Chris Hani Crossing Mall.

Another judge, namely Tebello Letsie (Miss Phumuza Maphiko 2017), delivered the results. “It was tough to come up with the decision as to who the winners are. All young men and women here looked beautiful. So this has been the most difficult moment of my career since I started to be a judge at different events,” said Letsie.

She concluded by saying: “Everyone deserved to be a winner but, unfortunately, there should be only one winner.”

The winners of the boys’ category were as follows:

Second Prince prize went to Melusi Mdhluli while the prize for First Prince went to Nkosinathy Kunene.

Siphamandla Magwaza was crowned the winner of Little Mr Chris Hani Crossing 2017.

The winners in the girls’ category were as follow:

Each of the 40 participants received a certificate and gifts to the value of R150 for participating in the event.
