Auditions held at Katlehong

Auditions for pantsula, gumboots and Zulu/Tswana traditional dance were held at Katlehong Art Centre on Thursday, April 27.

The auditions were held to select 15 participants to represent South Africa in a tour to United Kingdom in August.

David Mahlaba, one of the judges, said about 21 participants from the Kathorus area took part in the auditions.

“We wanted about 15 male and female participants to represent South Africa in United Kingdom in August.

“We will select them by looking at their potential on stage, talent, facial expression, confidence as well as how they responded to questions during the interview,” said Mahlaba.

He said the 15 they select as the committee will start rehearsals from June until the end of July. The 15 successful participants will be announce later in May.

“Before they leave for the United Kingdom, they will start by performing at the Market Theatre and will then perform for the public around Kathorus, including D H Williams Hall, Vosloorus and Thokoza,” said Mahlaba.

He said the date of departure is Sunday, August 6.
