Liquor traders to embark on anti-abuse march

“We aim to show solidarity with abused women and children around Kathorus, especially in Phumula and Rondebult where incidents of alcohol abuse and domestic violence are high,” said Mnguni.

The Boksburg-Vosloorus Food and Beverages Association (BVFBA) together with the local organisers of the 16 Days of Activism against women and child abuse will embark on a march aimed at highlighting the responsible use of alcohol this festive season.

According to Amos Mnguni, the chairperson of the BVFBA, the march will held on November 26 as part of the associations’ social responsibility programme. It will start in Rondebult and proceed to Phumula. The marcher will be joined by other liquor traders associations, such as the Katlehong Liquor Traders Association (KLTA), the Ekurhuleni Liquor Traders Association (ELTA) as well as the Gauteng Liquor Traders Association (GLTA).

“We aim to show solidarity with abused women and children around Kathorus, especially in Phumula and Rondebult where incidents of alcohol abuse and domestic violence are high,” said Mnguni. Participants in the march will receive free T-Shirts and caps to mark the occasion.

Residents interested in taking part in the march can contact Mnguni on 083 357 7608.
