Mission extends a helping hand

“We would also appreciate it if someone with transport came forward and assisted with transporting sick people around."

Crown of Glory Mission’s helping hand extended to those who needed it the most on Friday, September 8.

According to Godfrey Fani, the founder of the organisation that was founded in 2007, he is doing all he can to help the community where he grew up.

“We are a home-based care groups that helps old and the needy people, especially people who suffer from chronic diseases and those who are taking treatment for diseases. We also teach them the right way of taking their medication.

“We giving food and clothes to those who need them the most,” said Fani.

Some of the food that was given to the people was donated by New Beginnings from Boksburg. They donated yoghurts, cold drinks and bread.

Fani also said that if there are people who might be interested in lending a helping hand, he would highly appreciate it.

“Anyone who has clothes that they might want to donate or even building material can do so.

“We would also appreciate it if someone with transport came forward and assisted with transporting sick people around.”

He said those wanting to assist can contact him on 071 7613727 or 074 2951696.

One of the two dedicated care givers, Constance Marebane told the Kathorus MAIL about the difficulties they come across as they go door to door helping people.

“We come across people who have no IDs but want to apply for a child support grant and come back and report to Fani to help them by involving the social workers,” said Marebane.

Her colleague Gloria Mohulo said they also come across cases of abuse.

Fani is also a leader of United Ethiopian Catholic Social Service Church of SA as well as a community chairperson. He also works as a traditional leader.
