Throwback Thursday: Never forget these sexist vintage ads

It’s hard to believe that the advertising world still publishes sexist adverts today but we’ve come a long way since these vintage ads appeared in newspapers and magazines of yester year.

The advertising world has always reflected and inflated a mirror of society and its evolution. Since it is still Women’s Month, let’s take a look back at some of the adverts of the past that demonstrate just how far we have come since the days of sexist ads.

When the shoe doesn’t fit

Kellogg’s PEP tries to be cute…fails

Van Huesen Ties ad shows women as men’s servants

Ironing board ad

Tipalet ad sells delusion

Pitney-Bowes Postage meter’s advertorial asks sexist questions

T-shirt, backpack and cycling objectifies

Co-Le Sales Company takes the sexism cake

But the Pontiac Star Chief took it the next level of sexism

While it might seem we have come a long way, there is still so much work to be done to curb sexism, this Burger King and Ford India ad are perfect examples.
