Burnt woman’s body still a puzzle

Police strongly believe the deceased person was killed elsewhere and the torso was then transported and dumped where it was found with parts of its limbs missing.

The police are still puzzled by the identity of the unknown female whose burnt and decapitated body was found in a stream in Siluma View, in Katlehong in May.

The naked, charred and mutilated female remains were found by a passer-by in the early hours of Sunday, May 22. Since then, the police have been unable to identify the torso whose arms, head and lower body parts had been hacked off before it was dumped in a shallow stream in Siluma View.

Police strongly believe the deceased person was killed elsewhere and the torso was then transported and dumped where it was found with parts of its limbs missing.

This, according to the police, has made it difficult to identify the deceased and proceed conclusively with the investigations.

According to the Katlehong SAPS, there has been no new development or reports of missing persons to the local SAPS. And with no suspects apprehended yet, Capt Mega Ndobe once again appealed to the local community to come forward with any information that might assist the police. “We are still appealing to members of the public who may have a missing female relative to please contact us to help solve this mystery murder,” said Capt Ndobe, the spokesperson for the Katlehong SAPS.

Provincial spokesperson for the police, Capt Kgabo Mohlane, could not be reached for further comments on the case. However, Capt. Ndobe appealed to the public to contact Capt Mohlane on 082 719 8373 with information or the Katlehong SAPS on 079 694 6862.
