THE Lyric at Gold Reef City is set to host the relaunch of the Gospel In Me Concert on Friday, March 11.

Following three previous concerts held between 2012 and 2013, the much-anticipated show is back by popular demand.

The Gospel In Me Concert aims to unleash the sacred side of South Africa’s leading afro-jazz, -soul and pop singers who chose not to pursue a career in gospel.

This year’s line-up boasts a selection of diverse and powerful artists and people you would not ordinarily associate with gospel music. The following artists will grace the stage with their melodic voices.

The Soil, a multi-award winning South African a cappella group consisting of three members, whose music is a blend of contemporary township style and an eclectic mix of urban contemporary which fuses beat box and soul. Their musical style is evident in the rhythmic vocal bass line, with constant beat boxing – a distinct feature in their music – while the remaining voices contribute to the choral and polyphonic accompaniment.

Tribute Birdie Mboweni is a petite singer who has worked diligently to carve a path that ensures that she too has a place in the music industry. Mboweni has performed at big festivals including The Bush Fire Festival in Swaziland, performing and opening for Judith Sephuma at the State Theatre in Pretoria, and performing alongside South Africa’s greatest at The Premium Jazz Festival at Carnival City in August last year.

At the Gospel In Me Concert, Beyond Vocal, the extraordinarily unique vocal band who has literally stretched the meaning of vocal harmonies, will also be performing. Their artistic approach to praising God through the natural instrument has been stretched beyond just vocal abilities. The touch of pure vocal output, combined with the powerful message of praise and worship has been the core motivation for the group.

The popular Gospel comedian Kedibone Mulaudzi will host the show.

Gareth Kaschula, marketing manager for Gold Reef City, said: “As the premier entertainment destination in the south of Jozi, we have committed ourselves to bringing quality entertainment that will be enjoyed by the whole family. The concert provides an interesting twist and fresh perspective to a music genre that previously has been exclusive to gospel artists. We are certain that our guests, both young and old, will be delighted.”

Tickets available from Computicket for R280 and for R300 at the door. Book your seats now to avoid disappointment.
