The few remaining games in the Palm Ridge Really Active Lifestyle (Prals) Heritage Games will determine what teams will clash at Ground D, Palm Ridge, Katlehong, in the race to claim the 2023 title in two soccer divisions and netball.
The annual tournament kick-started on September 16, and the fans will witness the finals for both the soccer seniors and U21, and netball on November 4.
Currently, the seniors have at least 24 teams and the U21 has 16 last-standing teams left in the competition, while netball has only four teams remaining.
These include teams from various townships in and outside of Kathorus. Ayifuniwena FC and Norway FC (U21) are local soccer teams knocked out of the competition.
The remaining soccer teams in both divisions include Amazayoni FC (senior and U21), Kathorus Juventus (U21), Norway FC (senior), and Zone 3 (senior).
In netball, the leading teams are Jicn with the scoreline of 106, Black Eagles at 102, Siyaphambili at 67, and Electrical at 51.
The Prals Heritage Games executive committee consists of the chairperson Bonginkosi ‘Djemba’ Sityebi, deputy chairperson Velly ‘Ta-veja’ Mazibuko, general secretary Nomvula Thela, additional member Fuwe Molefe.
According to Mazibuko, the tournament’s purpose is to reach the football scouts in the area and showcase the local talent.
He said they hope to provide young stars with a platform to shine while fighting crime, drugs, and gender-based violence in the townships.
They partnered with Bhekilanga Wholesalers and Lesubeng Butcher and Car-wash, who supported and made the tournament possible.

• Young Pirates 0 – 3 Simnandi Syashisa.
• FC Basil 1 – 1 Kathorus Juventus (KJ won on penalties).
• Saint Ignatius 0 – 0 Warriors FC (Warriors won on penalties).
Tournament prizes
Seniors: the first prize is R175 000 cash and kit, the second prize is R70 000 and kit, the third prize is R15 000 and the fourth prize is R10 000 cash.
U21: the first prize is R20 000 and kit, the second prize is R10 000 and the third prize is R2 500 cash.
Netball: the first prize is R10 000 and kit, the second prize is R5 000 and the third prize is R2 000.
