Triple S bags three points as KALFA Super League returns to action

Moeketsi completed his brace after scoring the deciding goal in the second half to make it 4-3.

Triple S defeated FBS in the first Katlehong Local Football Association Super League match for the 2022/23 league season, at Khumalo Ground, on February 5.

The competitive encounter saw Triple S claim three points after a narrow 4–3 victory.

FBS could not hold on to their lead for long in the second half. During the first half, Lehlogonolo Matla scored their first goal, but Nhlanhla Mlangeni shortly found an equalizer for Triple S.

Tlala Monamodi scored the second goal for FBS and Matla extended the lead to make it 3–1.

However, after returning for the second half, it did not take long for Sizwe Mncube and Morena Moeketsi from Triple S to level the scoreline.

Moeketsi completed his brace after scoring the deciding goal in the second half to make it 4 – 3.

Triple S coach Lehlogonolo Mokatane said their opponents played fast-paced football in the first half and he knew they would not be able to maintain that pace throughout the game.

He said his 4-5-1 formation and quick balls on the wings won them the game as their opponents were already tired.

“My goal this season is to maintain position three because the club is fielding new players after old ones have left to advance their academic careers at universities,” said Mokatane.

FBS coach Vusi Kekana said the team’s performance is promising but they still have to work on the defence.

“I am happy about the performance of the team. We played great. The boys we able to apply instructions well but I realized we lacked defensively. Some of our players left, we were playing with new players,” said Kekana.

“We used the 3-4-3 formation and it pressured our defence, especially when our middle field lost focus. I could see they were getting tired by the minute. Our wing players went forward to supply crosses but they were not able to come back to defend.”

He said, going forward, they have to train the goalkeeper and find a working combination at the back.
