Dumezweni’s dream beckons

Celeb City Boxing Exhibition

While all the news and spotlight are on the much-anticipated bout between Cassper Nyovest and Naak Musiq, another man is looking to fulfil his dreams in Sun City on April 9.

For Mthatha Dumezweni, fighting at Sun City is something he never dreamt of, but he’s determined to make a lasting impression on those who are going to attend the TLB Boxing Promotions tournament.

It also features the Celeb City Boxing Exhibition bout Nyovest and Musiq.

The southpaw is scheduled to fight at the resort for the first time in his boxing career when he takes on Lwandile Ngxeke from Sada in the Eastern Cape in a vacant South African junior-bantamweight title contest on April 9.

“The Sun City Superbowl is a famous venue and many boxing tournaments have been held there in the past. It’s an honour for me to fight there. Fighting there is a big opportunity for me to put myself in the limelight,” said Dumezweni.

“This is history in the making for me, as we are out to uplift the standard of South African boxing. Those who are going to attend the tournament are going to see real boxing. Those who don’t know me will know me after I had beaten Ngxeke. Ngxeke is in big trouble.”

This fight offers Dumezweni an opportunity to reclaim the title he held in 2018. This title became vacant after Sabelo Ngebiyana relinquished it last year.
