Nominations for sport awards open until January 22

The second Tshwane Women in Sports Awards is returning and nominations are open for the 20 award categories that will honour the big achievers within Tshwane for their incredible accomplishments.

The Tshwane Women in Sports Awards will take place on February 16, 2022.

It will recognise all the hard work and commitment of the athlete’s participation in sports, on and off the field and more specifically the development of the sport on grassroots level as well as management of sport within club and federation structures, not just in Tshwane but South Africa and the globe as a whole.

“We are excited to be able to host this prestigious event,” said Mr Winston Meyer, president of Tshwane Sports Confederation.

“The women and girls in Tshwane are the force behind the building of resilient communities within in our borders backed by SPAR and the High-Performance Centre,” he continued.

“Let’s empower them through sports as a powerful tool to challenge the gender stereotypes, to regain ownership of their bodies, rebuild their lives after trauma, further develop skills that are transferable to the work environment and find a safe meaning of purpose with the ability to express their talent and passion freely.”

Nominations are open until January 22, 2022.
