Youth soccer tournament in Vosloorus a success

More than just a game of football, the games were an integral part of the community to commemorate the life and times of the late local soccer legend, Emmanuel ‘Scara’ Ngobese. The fans at the game also noted the involvement of the Spanish League, LaLiga, which gave its support to the local football through merchandise, balls as well as Community Social Investment (CSI) initiatives.

The first CSI initiative took place on December 21 at the Somhlolo Grounds where u-13’s and u-15’s – who are currently partaking in the tournament – took part in training sessions hosted by the former football professionals such as Patrick Thwala, Patrick Ningiza and Lebohang Kukame.

The highlights of the day on December 21 included the holding of a series of soccer clinics conducted by former professional footballers such as Lebohang Kukame, ex-Bafana Bafana international player, Teboho Mokoena, and other local youth coaches.

The aim of the clinic was to sharpen the skills of the youngsters while commemorating the life of Ngobese, the celebrated former Kaizer Chiefs winger and Katlehong resident, who died in 2010.
