Last Man Stands (LMS) cricket is a great way to get outdoors and socialise, all year round.
The eight-a-side T20 cricket game was founded in London in 2005 by Bjorn Briggs and Wayne Greve and is the widest reaching amateur cricket league in the world.
The matches, typically played on Sundays, last about two hours, and all eight wickets need to be taken for a team to be out.
This means when the seventh wicket falls the last man stands on his own at the crease until he is bowled out, hence the name Last Man Stands.

LMS Germiston is administered by Jacques Bedeman.
“Schedules are communicated via Whatsapp, Facebook and email on Tuesdays,” explained Bedeman.
“Games are live scored on the internet by the umpire on the field and thus players and spectators are able to keep track of the scoring rate and required rate.”
A nominal fee of R100 per player is charged per match.
“This fee covers the field rental, field preparation, a new ball for every innings, umpire, live scoring and global statistics update,” Bedeman said.
“LMS is also not seasonal and thus leagues are run throughout the year.”
Each LMS player receives cricket statistics and world rankings online, something typically reserved for the professionals.
“This allows teams and players a chance to compare their performances with other LMS T20 cricket sides from around the world as all players and teams receive world rankings.
“The matches are also easy for skippers to organise with fixture reminders automatically sent out to the squad so each player can build up his career stats and rankings,” explained Bedeman.
“In addition to all this, each year the South African Championships Tournament enables the winners to take part in the LMS World Series and play cricket on the global stage.”

LMS matches are played at several different venues throughout Germiston, these include, Germiston City Sports Grounds, Hoërskool Elspark, Hoërskool Elsburg, Elspark Sports Complex and Laerskool Delville.
