Basketball league games held

Ekurhuleni Basketball Association (EBA) took their league games to Huntersfield Stadium in Katlehong on Sunday, July 30.

Nine league games were played on the day.

Mmeli Magubane, the EBA programme manager and the CEO of Wattville Watts, said this was their third week of the league.

“Most of the teams have played six games. Others were playing their catch-up matches,” said Magubane.

Speaking after his team’s game against Katlehong Gladiators, Magubane said the Wattville Watts are the defending champions.

“Out of six games we have played so far, we lost three and won three. I am happy with today’s performance, even though we lost to Katlehong Gladiators. We lost because some of my team players are playing in the tournament in Vaal,” said Magubane.

He said the tournament is being played at Zamdela in Sasolburg and is hosted by North West University (Vaal Campus).
