SAFA took league games to Katlehong

Four of the SAFA Gauteng Development League games were played on Sunday, June 25 at Huntersfield Stadium in Katlehong.

Kathorus Hyper Academy teams including u-13, u-15, u-17 and u-19 played against Jomo Cosmos Development teams.

The u-19 game that ended 1-0 in favour of Jomo Cosmos drew the attention of soccer lovers who attended the games because of the pace it was played.

Jabulani Mlangeni, the coach of Kathorus Hyper Academy u-19 said the score is not a true reflection of the game.

“We lost the game that we should have won by a large goal margin. We missed about five clear one-on-one goal scoring chances with the goalkeeper. If we had converted those chances the score would have been different,” said Mlangeni.

He said it is because of a lack of concentration that they lost the game.

“We were on top of the game the entire 90 minutes. They got only one chance at the 90th minute and converted it,” said Mlangeni.

The scores for other games between Kathorus Hyper Academy and Jomo Cosmos Development were as follow:

U-13 lost 3-2, u-15 lost 2-0, u-17 won 3-0 and u-19 lost 1-0.

The results of the games on Sunday mean Kathorus Hyper Academy team occupies the following spot on the league table:

U-13 remains in position two, while u-15 remains in position 5. The u-17 moves up to position four after their 3-0 win while u-19 remains rooted in position 14.

U-13, u-15, u-17 and u-19 leagues have 15 teams each.
