Without dreams, there’s no growth

Remember motivation is the desire to do something.

Growth is becoming your aspirational self, not languishing with the façade of authenticity.

Look around you. Who are the people you admire? Do you know that the people you admire are the reflection of the person you silently hope to become?

Yes, that’s the start of discovering those things that are important to you. People have goals and dreams because they want to change something and this desire to change is a form of motivation.

So, motivation is the desire to do something. This explains why not having dreams and goals leads to no growth.
Dreams and goals create a gap between your current and future self. This gap is what creates motivation to close it.

One of the easiest steps you can take is to simply examine your life and think about which areas of your life you wish to change. If you realise that you don’t like your job, examine it, and dig down to find out the root cause.

Maybe the root cause that you don’t like your job is because you don’t like your boss. Then, if that’s the case, you’ve found something to change, that’s motivation for you.

But just accepting your status quo and that all the bosses are the same, motivation will disappear. In a case where your boss is the root cause of you not liking your job, the solution is to look for the same job at a different company.

If you don’t like your apartment, find out why is that so. Is it because of the neighbourhood? The layout? The city itself?

Whatever it is, nail down the problem as specifically as you can. Once you have a clear vision of the problem, you’ll soon become increasingly motivated to remedy it.

Motivation is always hidden in your growth and progress.
