The government needs to help poor people fight Covid-19

Why is the Department of Health not providing the poor with protective clothing such as masks and sanitiser which most families cannot afford?

Each day we are informed by the health minister and other officials that hundreds of people die each day from this deadly pandemic. Yet, we see absolutely nothing being done by the authorities, especially the health department to curb the spread of the pandemic.

I live in Somalia Park, and since the outbreak of the pandemic in March last year, I have not seen a single nurse or doctor addressing the pandemic in my community. All we hear about are threats from the Minister of Police, Bheki Cele.

Our government is supposed to be a caring authority, but all that people have been hearing almost a year since the outbreak of the coronavirus have been threats of death and arrests by our government. Please, Mr Cele, help the citizens of South Africa to fight and protect themselves against the pandemic.

Let us hear more about how victims of the pandemic have been provided with help instead of threats to have them jailed for not wearing masks, most of whom cannot afford it because they are unemployed.
