I watched television last night and I am still shocked; the images of the 1990’s black on black violence flashed through my mind. People’s lives could be in danger as the political situation in the country gets even more dire with what happened outside the Jeppe Hostel on Sunday afternoon.
Although we have enough police to deal with the xenophobic issues in Gauteng, my concern is that not enough of them are qualified to deal with riot situations. This can be dangerous as we are now beginning to see a very serious situation developing within Gauteng as gangs of foreign shopkeepers form into defence gangs in retaliation to attacks by local blacks.

That is the reason why I am suggesting that President Ramaphosa must deploy the army in Johannesburg to dispel tensions or face a free-for-all gang war between locals and foreign nationals. Our president cannot allow the current situation to prevail and risk the lives of innocent people.
This situation should never have been allowed to develop to this point with the unmonitored borders allowing people to flow into the country at will. It will take determination by the government to sift through undocumented immigrants and send them back to their respective countries and make South Africa safe again.
Only immigrants with the correct documents must be allowed to remain in South Africa and the rest must go back to their countries and get proper documents to travel to South Africa, or anywhere for that matter.
