‘Our education system is in danger’

The editorial comment in the July 24, 2019, issue hit the nail on the head.

The country’s education needs to undergo a serious overhaul to get it back on track otherwise, as a concerned parent, I am considering home-schooling as a better option for my children. What is the point of enrolling my children at a school only to lose them to crime at their prime?

There is just too much crime and violence in schools and the authorities are not able to deal with the situation. Parents end up offering their children as sacrificial lambs to crime and criminals who operate at these schools.

School holidays are determined by parents, not the Department of Education, says MEC for Education Panyaza Lesufi

As a concerned parent, I concur with the editor that school violence does not auger well for the future of the country. What kind of leadership must the elderly look up to when these very future leaders are raised and groomed in such environments?

Our education system is in danger of disintegrating and falling apart – a tragedy that could have serious consequences for the future of our children and country.
