Reader wants to make a claim for his parent’s unpaid pension funds

The recent article in the Kathorus MAIL about the unpaid retrenched employees of the old Germiston and Boksburg municipalities has touched me.

I am one of the children of the municipal employees who were retrenched by the municipality in 1993, and believe these employees were unfairly treated by the authorities.

I wish to congratulate Mr Thabo Buzwa, the private investigator, who has taken it upon himself to investigate this matter, and help to bring closure to it. My late father has since died and we, as his children, have had no recourse to resolve this matter on his behalf.

I know several other Katlehong residents whose parents were employed by the old Germiston municipality, and were retrenched in 1993, and have not been fully paid the monies due to them. I now want to know from Mr Buzwa if there is still time for these families to also lodge their claims for their parents’ unpaid pension fund?
