Youth needs to take responsibility for their own lives

I urge young people to take responsibility of their own lives and to ensure they escape entrapments of a goal-less life.

Dear Sir

I read your editorial comment in the last issue about the plight of young people in our country and I am prompted to add my penny’s worth of comment.

I can only sum up what you stated about young people as having been deprived of choices that could have given them better options in life than nyaope, alcohol and sex.

As young people, we should have been groomed from the young age about skills that could help us to shape our lives in a more positive direction than to follow a life of drug addiction and alcoholism and teenage pregnancy. It is disturbing that black young people are more likely to be entrapped by all these negative aspects of life than all the youths of other nationalities.
