New by-laws, bring them on

By introducing by-laws the EMPD has done the residents of Kathorus a huge favour.

Shirley Mthimkhulu, Spruitview writes:

(Letter via smartphone)

I am probably one of the many Kathorus residents who wish to compliment the head of the Ekurhuleni Municipality Police Department (EMPD) and staff for a job well done.

Their determination to have the EMPD support the initiative to establish and enforce municipal by-laws has earned them the highest accolades in the hearts of many peace-loving residents of Kathorus.

One can only applaud the EMPD and the Ekurhuleni municipality for this bold step in the right direction to launch a platform for progress for communities.

The excessive noise unleashed on residents by tavern owners could soon be a thing of the past.

By introducing by-laws the EMPD has done the residents of Kathorus a huge favour, at least now residents will feel protected against abusive noise polluters.

By-laws will protect many against being abused by informal tent churches, tavern owners, and other unruly neighbours with their frivolous all-night parties.

Above all, what’s really good about enforced by-laws is their ruling are binding and an aggrieved party can pursue whatever matter legally and claim for compensation for damages caused.

I can only foresee peace of mind prevailing over Kathorus in the future.
