Dear Mr Editor,
Although the article was well written, I believe the true facts about this hostel still need to be told. There is a lot more that goes on behind the four walls that surround this place of iniquity and crime den in Vosloorus.
And the fact is that the Vosloorus police station, which is just a stone’s throw away, is doing nothing to deal with most of the crime at this hostel. As a township resident who lives in the adjacent Nguni Section, criminals at the hostel have made life unbearable for many of us.
Stolen vehicles are driven into the hostel at all hours of the day and night where they are hidden by criminals and the police are doing nothing about this. Gunshots are a regular feature of hostel life which has spilled into homes nearby.
What concerns me most is that despite regular patrols by the police in the hostels, crime remains high and local residents live in fear.
I wish Kathorus MAIL reporters could go back to the Nguni Hostel, this time with police, in an attempt to root out the many criminal elements that use this hostel as a safe haven and storing place for stolen goods and vehicles.
Also the issue of drugs inside the hostel will need to be exposed and those selling these harmful drugs to be caught.
Please, Kathorus MAIL, we applaud your attempt to expose crime at the Nguni Hostel.
