Tshabalala Primary School awards top learners

“We want to ignite the sense of hard work for all learners we did not only acknowledge excellent performers but even those who are struggling.”

Tshabalala Primary School held an awards ceremony to celebrate the top-performing learners from the foundation phase to the intermediate phase, at the school premises, on November 11.

Parents attended the event, along with current and former teachers, representatives of the Department of Education (DoE), SGB, local business people and motivational speakers.

The school principal, Sfiso Ngobese, said the purpose of the event was to acknowledge the brilliance of young intellectual minds and to encourage and motivate learners to do better and become responsible citizens of South Africa.

“We want to ignite the sense of hard work for all learners. We did not only acknowledge excellent performers but also those struggling. We also looked at the most improving learners to motivate and make them aware that we are watching them,” said Ngobese.

“We attempted to be broad as we have awards for curriculum and sports. The event was great. I think we achieved our objective.”

He appreciated the support from parents, adding that they are very supportive even in ordinary school meetings.
The DoE’s IDSO Themba Mokoena and the founder of B4S, Isaac Mavuso, each presented a motivational speech to inspire learners. The learners received awards and trophies for different subjects, behaviour, improvement and sports.
