Vosloorus NPOs receive office furniture

Clinix Botshelong-Empilweni Private Hospital donated 10 tables, six chairs, and two cupboards to the Vosloorus CPF, which decided to share with other needy NPOs.

Clinix Botshelong-Empilweni Private Hospital (CBEPH) and the Vosloorus CPF handed pre-loved office furniture to three local NPOs at the Vosloorus Police Station on August 17.

According to Tshepo Dyoyi, deputy chairperson of the Vosloorus CPF, CBEPH proposed donating the furniture a few weeks ago at a stakeholders meeting.

He said they used their database to identify NPOs and NPCs in need.

They donated two office desks, eight bedside tables, six chairs and two cupboards to the three NPOs.

The beneficiaries included Vosloorus Green Doors from Ext 25, Ext 25 Old Age Home (OAH) and Phambili Edu Centre from Ext 20.

The founder of Ext 25 Old Age Home, Gertrude Hika, Vosloorus CPF deputy chairperson Tshepo Dyoyi and the Green Doors ambassador, Beauty Maboka.

The founder of Ext 25 OAH, Gertrude Hika, said the timing of the donations could not have been more perfect.
She said she had looked for a table last week and had found a damaged one that needed a brick to balance it.

“I am so happy. The bedside tables will help us greatly because we have terminally ill senior citizens who are bedridden. We now do not need to lift our elderly residents out of bed for breakfast or supper. This table will make life easier for us,” said Hika.

Ext 25 OAH caters for 15 senior citizens but currently has seven.

She said this was not the first time CBEPH come to her rescue because they supported her immensely after she opened the centre in 2013.

The founder of Phambili Edu-Care Centre, Gladys Johans, and Grade R teacher, Thando Gladys Johans.

Another beneficiary, Nosisa Khambi from Tshepang NPO, gave her donation to Phambili Edu-Care Centre (PECC).
Khambi said PECC needed the furniture more than them because their teachers sat on buckets because there were no chairs.

The founder of PECC, Gladys Johans, confirmed this, saying they recently got an office and needed furniture.
She said teachers spent 10 hours every weekday at the crèche and did not have chairs.

Beauty Maboka, the Vosloorus Green Door ambassador, said she was grateful to CBEPH and the CPF for considering her.

“It is the thought that counts. It means so much when someone gets something and immediately thinks of you. It means they value you, have you in their mind, and you make a difference in the community,” she continued.

“They are fast-tracking your work in the community and want to ensure you are not that vulnerable regarding resources. If there is an extra chair, it means another person can sit,” said Maboka.
